mala, Buddhist rosary, obsidian celeste eye, royal amber, cinabre, silver 925, amazonite, blessed mother-of-pearl.
Trengwa Tibetan mala, is the Buddhist, including the monk Rosary (or even lay practitioner) is almost never separated holding it by hand or wrapped around the wrist.
The mala is primarily utilitarian onjet: it serves as a tactile support the recitation of mantras, at the same time it is used to count if it is attached to repeat a specific number.
The mala is composed of 108 beads, which justifies its name because it simply means "Garland" (beads). Components each contain symbolic State: the big Pearl (or Buddha head) which closes the loop is knowledge of emptiness. The small cone quila overcomes is emptiness itself. Theoretically the cord on which the beads are strung should look like a multi-wire braid:
three strands symbolizes the "three bodies" with a Buddha (absolute body, body of glory and fumes from body).
five sons symbolize "the five wisdoms" or "five families" of Buddha (Buddha family, family of the vajra, family of the gem, the lotus family, family activity)
nine sons symbolize the Buddha primordial Vajradhara and eight large bodhisattvas.
