"Celestial Eye" Obsidian from Mexico, renowned for the quality of its deposits. Rich in silica and glassy volcanic rock. Grey, dark green, red or black color, it is an acid wash (rhyolite type). Its name comes from Obsius, a character from ancient Rome that first reported the presence of this rock in Ethiopia.
In Spanish, corozo or tagua also known as vegetable ivory is the endosperm of the fruit of Palm ivory from tropical America (mainly species of genus Phytelephas) but also from Africa (Hyphaene species). It is used to make small figurines or garment buttons.
