Strawberry quartz is native to Africa, where its largest deposits are located, but it is obtained in Kazakhstan, Russia and Brazil, where it is highly sought after. Strawberry quartz derives its particular color from various inclusions, such as iron oxide, however, various oxides can give red quartz different shades.
Since it is a silicate, its chemical composition is SiO2, which means that it belongs to the oxides. In addition, it contains impurities of elements such as lithium, sodium, iron, titanium and potassium. It is not exfoliating, because his fracture is conchoidal. Its hardness, on the Mohs scale, is 7, which indicates that it can scratch ordinary glass and steels.
